Regulation
1. General

1.1 introduction
This regulation has been intended for all chess matches which are played during the tournament, The Battle of the Giants.

This regulation has been determined in the general board meeting of the commission international tournament on September 28, 2009 at Leiderdorp.

1.2 Overview
The tournament knows two different days. On the first day the participants will play three games in a closed competition. There are two different competitions with each four participants. The best two teams of each competition on Saturday will play on Sunday for the places one till four. Number three and four of the competition on Saturday will play for places five till eight. The results between number 1 and 2, and between number 3 and 4 of the first competition, will stay in the next round. So on Saturday there will be three matches, and on Sunday only two.

Al chess games are according to general FIDE-regulation. During the tournament two arbitrators and a head arbitrator are present. In principle the firstly called two arbitrators are responsible for the organization of the matches. The head arbiter is involved in case of problems and is available in case of objections. The head arbiter has the final responsibility.

1.3 Teams
A team that participates to the The Battle of The Giants must satisfy to a number of requirements. The team exists from members of an association or from members of several associations from one region. The organisation has the right stipulate when a team meets this requirement.

Aloud to play are all team members, if they are presented in advance. A team has been built from sixteen players. A team must exist from the following categories of players:

4 players from the A/B category born in 1989 or later
4 players from the C category born in 1995 or later
4 players from the D category born in 1997 or later
4 players from the E category born in 1999 or later

It has been permitted to use more then four players in each category. These players must be presented to the tournament organisation in advance.

Before the start of the tournament teamleaders must determine in wich order the players will play. It is not allowed to changes this order during the tournament.

During the tournament players have to note there games.

The organisation will check the teams on the aforesaid conditions.

1.4 Reflection time
To all matches of all categories the time for reflection of one hour by person by match.

2. The Tournament

2.1 General
The tournament knows two different days. On the first day the participants will play three games in a closed competition. There are two different competitions with each four participants. The results between number 1 and 2, and between number 3 and 4 of the first competition, will stay in the next round. The tournament winner recieves the title The King of the Giants. The numbers 2, 3 and the winner of the small final will also receive a prize.

2.2 Closed competition
The closed competition exists from four teams. These four teams will play one time against the other teams in the competition. In the closed competition two match points will be granted to the winning team, the losing team gets none. At a draw both teams get one match point. A draw only occurs in the case of an even number of game points. A team gets a game point when one of the team members wins, at a draw both teams get a half game point. Beside the number of match points the number of game points are important. By a match of two teams, sixteen game points are divide, under normal circumstances.

At the provision of the final ranking in the closed competition, we will look firstly to the number of match points. When the number of match points should be equal, then there will be looked at the number of game points. Should appear that the number of game points is also equal, then there will be looked at to the mutual result. If also the mutual result should be equal, then there will be looked at the mutual result with exclusion of the youngest category of players. The results of the highest twelve participants will only count. If also this result will be equal the next age category will be excluded and so on. When only the first four participants left then the last participant will be excluded. When it appears to be that the first four participants all made a draw, then destiny will stipulate which team finishes higher than the other team.


3. The rewards

The tournament knows a number of prices for several teams. Beside the team rewards, there are some personal rewards. The champions goblet remains property of the tournament organisation and should be returned before the next tournament. A team that has won the champions goblet three times has the right to keep the goblet.

The winner receives:
- The champions goblet
- The victory goblet (remains in the possession of the winning association)
- 400 euro
- A medal for each player of the team

Number two receives:
- A goblet for the association
- A medal for each player of the team

Number three receives
- A goblet for the association
- A medal for each player of the team

The winner of the finals, from the numbers three and four from the first round, receives:
- A large cake.


4. Final provision

In all cases in which this regulation do not foresee, the arbiter decide. It is possible to object against a decision of the arbiter before the tournament ends. The head arbiter will make a decision before the end of the tournament. Against this decision is no further objection possible.

Before, during and after the tournament SV Leiderdorp is not responsible for possible damage to any product or disappearance of any product. SV Leiderdorp is not responsible for accidents in or around the tournament location and in or around the sleep location.
